Are you looking for an authentic Khao Sok safari? A Khao Sok National Park tour full of lush jungles and adventurous excursions? My husband and I booked a 3 day tour, staying one night at Riverfront Resort and one night at the Khao Sok floating raft houses We could not be happier with our experience. From pristine accommodation to breathtaking views, this package has it all. Without any of the hassle, the resort planned the trip perfectly for us.
Day 1 – Khao Sok Thailand
We started our Thailand adventure in Phuket. From the city we took a bus a few hours north directly to the town of Khao Sok. The Resort picked us up and escorted us directly to reception. We already knew we had chosen the right place when we were greeted by the friendliest staff. They greeted us with a cold towel and delicious coconut lime drinks (a much needed treat in the Thailand heat). We even received a welcome basket in our room full of fruit and flowers.
Since we were coming from much colder climates, we chose to upgrade our room for only 200 baht extra to have a river front room with air-con (definitely worth it in our opinion) and we also chose to upgrade our activity on Day 1 so that we could take the scenic bike tour with stops at the local school, organic farms and monkey temple.
Bike Tour
The bike tour was the perfect opportunity to truly delve into the Thai culture and absorb the lifestyles of Thailand. We played with the children at school, learned how the Thai farmers grow mushrooms, met the livestock on an organic farm, fed the monkeys in the temple, explored the statues in the caves, and paid our respects to Buddha inside the Wat Tham Phanthurat temple. Just all in a days work.
When we returned from our biking trip we had an afternoon snack and drink (included in our package!) and even had time to leisurely walk around the quaint yet lively main street of Khao Sok. After a dinner we snuck off to bed in our quiet air conditioned bungalow on the river. A perfect 1st day in Khao Sok.
Day 2 – Cheow Lan Lake – National Park Tour
After choosing a delicious breakfast, we left the resort on a mini bus to our Khao Sok national park tour. Our first stop was at a local Thai market that had stalls and stalls of fresh fruit and produce. We wandered around the market and bought a few souvenirs before we continued our bus ride to the Cheow Lan lake.
By 11am we were at the lake and ready to board our own traditional long tail Thai boat. The boat ride was about an hour long, ensuring that we were far into the lake and certainly off the beaten path.

We checked into our floating bungalow and had a tasty Thai lunch. Afterwards we went for a swim in the clear emerald water right outside our Khao Sok floating raft houses.

Then we embarked on the real adventure, the Khao Sok Jungle Hike. We spent the afternoon hiking deep into the jungle to reach the Nam Talu Cave. The hike was simply beautiful, walking past 100 year old trees, lush forestry, vibrant flowers and an abundance of wildlife.
Once we reached the cave we secured our personal items in a dry bag and trekked right into the wet cave. The cave was the highlight of our trip. Our guide pointed out several different species of bats and insects throughout the cave. He guided us along the river that ran all the way through the cave and out of another entrance.
Day 3 – Khao Sok Safari
We woke up early for a Khao Sok safari and we so enjoyed this part of our Khao Sok national park tour. We saw several monkeys, giant hornbills and even a few gibbons playing in the trees before breakfast.
After the morning safari, we had our breakfast. We checked out of our room and relaxed in the hammocks on the pier. Eventually we had to bid farewell to the tranquil lake and the Khao Sok floating raft houses.
We ended our tour with a packed lunch above the Rajjaprabha Dam and were back to Riverside Cottages Resort by 2:00pm.
What a wonderful time we had adventuring through the diverse jungles on our Khao Sok National Park tour.
